Optimal Control of a Viscous Two-Field Damage Model with Fatigue

چکیده

Motivated by fatigue damage models, this paper addresses optimal control problems governed a non-smooth system featuring two non-differentiable mappings. This consists of coupling between doubly history-dependent evolution and an elliptic PDE. After proving the directional differentiability associated solution mapping, optimality which is stronger than one obtained classical smoothening procedures derived. If mappings becomes smooth, conditions are strong stationary type, i.e., equivalent to primal necessary condition.

Analysis of a Viscous Two-field Gradient Damage Model Part I: Existence and Uniqueness

The paper deals with a viscous damage model including two damage variables, a local and a non-local one, which are coupled through a penalty term in the free energy functional. Under certain regularity conditions for linear elasticity equations, existence and uniqueness of the solution is proven, provided that the penalization parameter is chosen sufficiently large. Moreover, the regularity of ...

A Two Step Viscous Damping Method to Solve a Class of Second Order Optimal Control Problems

This paper presents a method to solve the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation for a class of second order optimal control problems for which the cost is quadratic and the dynamics are affine in the input and in the state directly excited by that input. The solution is based on the concept of inverse optimality and is obtained in two steps. First a scalar problem is solved and then the solution of ...

Fatigue damage control of mechanical I systems

This paper presents the concept and architecture of a fatigue damage control system for mechanical structures. In contrast to the conventional cycle-based approach, fatigue damage is represented via non-linear differential equations with respect to time in the state-variable setting. This damage model is compatible with the dynamic model of the plant, i.e. the process under operation and contro...

Optimal Control of Treatments in a Two-strain Tuberculosis Model

Optimal control theory is applied to a system of ordinary differential equations modeling a two-strain tuberculosis model. Seeking to reduce the latent and infectious groups with the resistant-strain tuberculosis, we use controls representing two types of treatments. The optimal controls are characterized in terms of the optimality system, which is solved numerically for several scenarios.
